Freya Sturm was born in Germany in 1985 and is an IPZV Trainer C (licensed by the German Icelandic Horse Association IPZV). She has been professionally training and instructing in Germany since 2004 and training and instructing in the U.S. since 2012; since 2015 she has lived in the U.S.
An experienced trainer, instructor, and clinician, she has been self-employed since 2016 with Freya’s Riding School, where all breeds and riding styles are welcome. She also has an M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics and is a coach for Coaching with Horses (licensed by Horsesense, Germany)
Freya’s experience in a broad variety of topics, including horekeeping, feed, socialization needs, riding aids and tools allows her to shape her lessons specifically to each horse and rider’s needs.
While Freya has extensive experience with Icelandic Horses, she is passionate about supporting all breeds as she meets each horse/rider team where they are and she shapes exercises that can be practiced on one’s own long after the lesson.
Freya is known for her depth of understanding of both human and horse anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and psychology and she is appreciated for her ability to communicate clearly how the rider’s mind/body influences the horse’s mind and movement. This understanding allows her to share tools and techniques that help each horse/rider achieve their goals, no matter how unique, diverse or personal those goals may be.
